Little Egg

This is the smallest egg I've ever seen. All seven hens laid today - the two eggs beside the little one are normal size - don't know what was going on with Miss Minnie or Ellie Mae (they lay the brown eggs) but they both looked fine tonight.

So we'll see what tomorrow brings . . . . .

Spring at My House

Japanese Quince with a little bee working hard.

Hydrangea - getting a trim.

And with this warm weather, the camillas are just extraordinary.

Seed Scoop - March

The smallest seeds in the world weigh about 1/35,000,000 of an ounce. They come from orchids and float in the air like dust.

7 Egg Day

It was rainy and messy this morning so the chickens stayed in their pen until lunch. I can't remember when I've gotten 7 eggs.

Garden Redo

Last summer I decided to enlarge my garden space. Of course, that meant moving the fence and making a couple of new beds. I got a small start in the fall and worked a little in the winter then nothing.

So Monday I started again - I'm so out of shape! The chickens were excited - fresh worms and no work involved.
This is a work in progress and I probably won't use all the beds this year. But I'm already looking forward to fresh tomatoes and squash.

Missy the Cat

Missy had surgery a couple of weeks ago - yep, she got fixed for lack of a better term. She's doing great and now no worries about a surprise family.
We've had lots of pets over the years. I was suprised one time with some little kitties and although they're cute - just like rabbits, they grow up and continue to multiply. And then we had to find them a good home which is difficult and heartbreaking cause you want to keep them all!

Please have your cat and/or dog spayed or neutered. There's so many places now that give vouchers and reduced rates. The SPCA is just one of many places.

Dalmatian Fire Truck Quilt

I only needed to quilt and bind and it was a finish - this is another quilt that the top was finished and then it was just put aside. The backing was pieced - I didn't have enough of either fabric but both combined to make a cute backing.
This pattern is free and makes a quick and easy quilt.

Quick Feeding

I opened the hives quickly yesterday around lunch to check on their baggie feeders. Neither hive had taken all their sugar syrup so I added one new bag to each hive. I'll check again next week when hopefully the weather will be warmer.
We're due for another round of a snowy mix. It got colder in the afternoon yesterday.

But the bees were working and bringing in pollen.
