Bonnie Hunter Quilt

Pineapple Blossom Quilt
Pattern by Bonnie Hunter

I started this quilt about 5 or 6 years ago at a workshop with Bonnie Hunter (this was before she got so famous).  It was a fun two-day workshop hosted by the Durham Quilt Guild.  I made new friends, learned some stuff and had lots of fun.
Finished machine quilting and binding by hand this week.  All scraps from my stash.
Some quilts take longer than others - no reason, just went on to other stuff and put this one aside for a while.
The free pattern is on Bonnie's website

Girl, Interrupted

One morning we were sitting in the kitchen eating toast with honey.
"What's that?" asked Alice.
"Toast with honey."
"I've never had honey," Alice said.
This was stunning.  Who could imagine a life so circumscribed that it excluded honey?
"Never?" I asked.
Georgina passed her a piece.  We watched while she ate.
"It tastes like bees," she announced.
"What do you mean?" Lisa asked.
"Sort of furry and tingly - like bees."
I took another bite of my toast.  The honey just tasted like honey, something I couldn't remember tasting for the first time.

From the book Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen.
Based on writer Susanna Kaysen's account of her 18-month stay at a mental hospital in the 1960s.

Made into a movie (1999) starring Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie and Whoopi Goldberg.  Angelina Jolie won as Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Lisa). And several other nominations for the movie.

Christmas Quilts

Little Knox had a Farm . . .

For the Granddogs - Cody and Sobe

A little late in my Christmas quilt postings but I had to wait till after the gift giving. Sobe took her quilt home and Knox and Cody were using theirs too.  But I wanted to take them to my quilting bee for Show and Tell in late January and finally got photos.
Cody and Sobe have the same quilt - just different backings.  We're always singing Old MacDonald Had A Farm and change the name to Knox - this fabric is just perfect with cows, chickens, pigs, sheep and a dog.  Of course the backing is bees!
