Rainy Weather

Add caption
Well, you kinda have to turn your head a little cause Blogger wouldn't work with me on this - somedays what can you say!  A computer is just a computer.
Anyhow, this is Hive #6 and the girls are hanging around today waiting for some sunshine - think they might have to wait a couple of days.  Almost an inch of rain today and it's chilly out too. A deep was put on this hive 4/10 - if it's full already, I'm in big trouble.

Adding Deeps

Mr. Ellis came over Tuesday afternoon and we did a little bee work.
Tonight and tomorrow night we have the possibility of frost so glad we got this done before this cold snap.
Hive #6 - added deep
Hive #4 - added super
Nuc #3 - added deep
Nuc #1 - added super
Nuc #4 - no change
Swarm Hive - no change
Now I have two deeps on each hive.  The bees should fill each deep this spring and with one super they should be fine for the winter.  So that means I'll have lots of honey too.
Saw lots of fat drones which is a good sign at this time of year.  The hives looked good - I need new tops for two hives.  Ants in one hive - didn't see any hive beetles.  I thought we would see lots of queen cells but not the case but did find one good queen cell for Mr. Ellis to take home.  Nuc #4 and Swarm Hive will be checked again in a couple of weeks.

Grow Where You're Planted

Grow where you're planted or in this case where a seed happens to fly in the wind or be dropped by a bird.

Hive #6

Yesterday was rainy in the morning and off and on cloudy all day.
Hive #6 - the girls were just hanging around waiting for better weather.  I'll add a super this week and replace the duct tape around the brood box.

I think this is one of my original brood boxes and it has a chunk broke off the top so I put duct tape around to help the girls out a little.
